Atlanta just keeps leveling up, and this one has me genuinely excited. Virgin Hotels is officially coming to Downtown Atlanta, and it's set to open in 2027 right inside Centennial Yards' new Entertainment District. Say less.

If you know Virgin Hotels, you already know the vibe: bold interiors, cocktail bars that actually pop off, rooftop energy, and service that doesn't feel stuffy. And now ATL is getting its very own location, the brand's first in all of Georgia.
The announcement was made by CIM Group, Centennial Yards Company, and The Drew Company, confirming a full partnership to bring the award-winning lifestyle hotel brand to one of the most talked about developments in the South right now.
What Is Centennial Yards?
If you haven't been following the Centennial Yards story, here's the quick version: it's a $5 billion, 50 acre mixed use development that is completely transforming Downtown Atlanta. We're talking dining, retail, entertainment, and hospitality all stacked together in one massive district, right next to Mercedes-Benz Stadium and State Farm Arena.
The Entertainment District alone will span about 470,000 square feet, and major players like Live Nation and Cosm are already confirmed. This is shaping up to be one of the premier destinations for live entertainment and food experiences in the entire country. And now Virgin Hotels will anchor the hospitality side of it.
Inside the Hotel: What to Expect
Virgin Hotels Atlanta will have 261 rooms built around the brand's signature "Chambers" concept. The idea is that every room functions as more than just a place to sleep. They're designed as multi-functional spaces for rest, work, and play. Think elevated layouts, thoughtful design details, and that distinctly Virgin personality throughout.
Room Highlights:
- 261 total Chambers — each designed as a stylish, multi-use space
- 21 Grand King Chambers — elevated king rooms with signature Virgin finishes
- 21 One-Bedroom Suites — full suite configurations for a more residential feel
- Premium upper-floor rooms — the hotel's most exclusive keys with city views
- A Penthouse Suite — the crown jewel of the property
- "Richard's Flat" — Virgin's signature residential style masterpiece, bringing unmatched style and service to the Atlanta market
The Rooftop, Dining & Social Scene
Beyond the rooms, what has me most excited is what the Virgin Hotels brand promises for dining and nightlife. Every Virgin Hotels property is known for its buzzing cocktail bars, elevated dining concepts, and a rooftop experience built for late nights. Atlanta's location is expected to carry that same energy.
Pair that with everything else happening in the Entertainment District, Live Nation concerts, Cosm's immersive experience venue, and a curated mix of restaurants and retail, and you've got a full destination experience without ever having to leave a few blocks. Whether you're a hotel guest or just an Atlanta local planning a night out, this area is going to be the spot.
Why This Matters for Atlanta
Atlanta has been on a real trajectory lately and developments like Centennial Yards show the city is serious about reimagining Downtown. For years, the area right around our major stadiums felt underutilized between events. This project changes that completely.
Adding a globally recognized lifestyle hotel brand like Virgin to that mix brings a new level of cultural credibility. Virgin Hotels has properties in New York, Edinburgh, and London, and Atlanta is next. That's not a small deal for the city's identity on the national and international stage.
And let's be honest, as an Atlanta girl, I love that we're getting something that isn't just another generic business hotel. Virgin Hotels has personality, and so does Atlanta. It's a natural match.
Who's Behind the Project?
This is a three way partnership making it happen:
CIM Group & Centennial Yards Company are the driving force behind the broader Centennial Yards development. They've been orchestrating this massive Downtown Atlanta transformation for years and are responsible for bringing in the caliber of tenants we're seeing announced.
The Drew Company brings deep Atlanta hospitality expertise to the table. They were also behind the nearby Signia by Hilton Atlanta, so they know this market and how to deliver world-class hotel experiences here. Their CEO noted that watching the Centennial Yards transformation up close while completing Signia made them want in and I can't blame them.
Virgin Hotels, of course, is the brand. CEO Joe Margison made it clear that Atlanta isn't just another pin on the map for them. Virgin Atlantic already connects ATL to London and Manchester daily (in partnership with Delta), so there's a real existing relationship with the city. The hotel deepens that connection in a meaningful way.
When Can We Go?
Virgin Hotels Atlanta is slated to open in 2027. That feels like a minute away, but honestly? With everything happening at Centennial Yards between now and then, we'll have plenty to explore while we wait. Live Nation and Cosm are both already moving forward with their spaces.
In the meantime, I'll absolutely be watching every update from this project closely. When room bookings open up, you know I'll be sharing it immediately and you can bet a Peach Twists date night itinerary built around Virgin Hotels Atlanta is already living in my head rent free.
