Things to do on St. Patrick's Day in Atlanta
St. Patrick's Day Parade
Atlanta’s St. Patrick’s Day parade started by the city’s Hibernian Benevolent Society (a Catholic and Protestant fraternal organization) – dates back to 1858, making it one of the country’s oldest. Participation in the parade is not just an “Irish thing”. The parade attracts individuals and groups from around the city and the South including clowns, floats, bands, Bagpipe & Drum Corps, children, dancers, drill teams, and more. All groups are encouraged to participate as long as their unit is appropriate for a “family” event. The emphasis is on children and families in celebration of all of Atlanta’s diverse backgrounds on a day when “everybody is Irish.” This year's St Patrick's Day Parade will take place in Midtown Atlanta on March 15th from noon to 1:30 PM.
Luck of the Square
Get ready for Midtown to transform into the Emerald City because Luck of the Square is returning at Colony Square. Beginning at 12pm, enjoy the annual St. Patrick's Day parade plus from 1-3pm, head into The Plaza to celebrate the luck of the Irish. Enjoy live music, roaming entertainment, face painting, and festive drinks to keep the party going.
